I remember that Bonnie Neubauer, Cindy and I hung around together during HS. She had the best Dad, and we all liked to be around him. She had a blowout Sweet Sixteen at the Walt Whitman Hotel in Camden. The things you remember that matter...and the things that don't. Of course, she died too young.
One day in 1967, my girlfriend and I were visiting her grandmother in a hospital. To my shock, there was Cindy in the opposite bed, or rather, sitting in the chair next to it. She was in good humor, despite being very ill. I left the room,
I kick myself that I never went back to visit her: I still visit that moment with her in the hospital room.
Cindy was lovely, kind and sweet -- and high on my list of crushes.
